Annually celebrated on August 26, it is National Dog Day. This day encourages dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure, and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and “abuse-free life”. Dogs give us companionship, they keep us safe and they aid those in need. It is a goal, for many on National Dog Day, to find homes for all dogs in need of a loving family. The goal of the National Dog Day foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year.
Walt Disney World has unveiled it's newest technology which allows guests riding the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to walk away with a video of their 13-story drop. Just like the ride photos it's all driven from the MagicBand and RFID readers in the attraction. Its all part of the new MyMagic+ system and The Tower of terror is the first attraction to offer the on-ride videos, but it won't be the last. More attractions will be added in the future and plans for the technology are already under way for The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and The Haunted Mansion. Just like regular ride photos the videos will be automatically uploaded to the guest's My Disney Experience. After the ride the videos will be edited and should be available at My Disney Experience within 24 hours for guest who have a MagicBand and have it linked to a Memory Maker. The new system will have the ability to create various ‘storylines’ for the guest for occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays. The system will automatically generate an album filled with personalized videos and images that were automatically captured throughout the park and linked to the guest via the RFID technology. The on-ride video is not available to any guests not wearing a MagicBand with a linked Memory Maker account. Check the video below to catch a glimpse of what the videos might look like. Son and Daughter Day is a day to spend with your children. After all, your son and daughter are the joy of your life. If you can make it to a Disney Park what better way could there be to spend time with them, but if you can't then watching a Disney movie with them is a close second. If your children are still living at home, take some time out of your schedule to truly enjoy their company. If your children have moved away, bring home for a day so you can spend quality family time together.

World Cat Day is a full 24 hours of recognition and veneration of one of humanity’s oldest and most beloved pets. Cats have been featured extensively in Disney movies and shorts throughout the years and they hold a special place in many of our hearts. The cat is a small, furry, domesticated, carnivorous mammal that is valued by humans for its companionship and for its ability to hunt vermin and household pests. National Lighthouse Day honors and commemorates a beacon of light that symbolizes safety and security for boats at sea. Lighthouses are represented at several Disney World Resorts and the one at Disney's Yacht Club Resort has an awesome view of Illuminations at Epcot. On August 7, 1789, through an Act of Congress, the Federal Government took over responsibility for building and operating our nation's lighthouses. The government recognized the importance to ships at sea to find safe harbor during fog and storms. Over the years, lighthouses have saved many ships, and an untold number of lives. Enjoy National Lighthouse Day by visiting a lighthouse, or learning more about your local lighthouse preservation society. Or, read a book about lighthouses.
