Originally created to celebrate labor organizations and their contributions to the US economy, this day is also celebrated as a day of rest, the official end of summer, start of the school year, and according to tradition, the last day you can wear white until the spring. Crowds in the parks typically decrease this time of year so if you have the day off, it's a great day to hit the parks!
